Ice Cube has done another funny movie posted on 31 Aug 2009
I watched Are We There Yet?, and I loved it. I also loved Are We Done Yet? They are both good funny family movies. Although there is a lot of slapstick comedy in both movies, they're still good. In Are We There Yet? Nick (Ice Cube's character) meets and falls in love with Nia Long's character, despite the fact that she has two naughty little kids that he's not so pleased with in the beginning. In the sequel, AWDY, Ice Cube's and Nia Long's characters are married, expecting twins, and in the process of building their dream home when everything seems to go awry.
I give hats off to Ice Cube for bringing a decent family movie to the screen that can be watched by all kids.

I have given this movie a ten out of ten. This is not because its a ten let me say that right now. However as I have said in my summary, the film does not deserve the rating it has, so in respect I hope to raise that 2.8 to at least a 6.0.There are no tedious parts to this movie considering the genre! it was not too slapstick and made me laugh more than a few times. Its defiantly a family movie. The acting is pretty well rounded, there is some good stuff from John. C. McGinely he played an obviously big part of this movie. I honestly didn't realise who he was, that is to say I forgot where I had seen him before, i.e one of the characters of Scrubs. I suppose that the performance from Ice Cube (O'Shea Jackson) is by no mean top notch but he pulls it off! Seriously give it a go, I'm confident you will enjoy this movie, and I'm disappointed that it has a 2.8 as this could have put me off watching it, totally undeserved if you ask me. ******

Are We Done Yet is not as bad as everyone on here would have you believe. Its not as funny as Are We There Yet, but it does hold its own. One thing I did wish they'd touched on is what happened to the kids dad. At the end of the first movie he was with his new wife and baby. Did he just completely forget about them. Anywho my kids loved it and have watched it over and over. Its one of the few movies you can allow your kids to watch without worry of foul language, sex, or violence. It's a good wholesome family movie.

As entertaining the idea was, the bitter was the presentation, sadly. A 13-year old girl acting like an adult? I wasn't quite sure if this was intended so. Her brother had nothing beside his mimic art. Too sketchy! The all beloved mother wasn't really into the story, beside her pregnancy, her role wasn't very plotted. Ice Cube really tried the best he can do, in order to clean up this mess. He acted like a clumsy father, whose words promised more than his hands could do. Finally after the purification all went good and everyone was very happy. Cheers! Best for happy families with young children..very young children.

AWDY is by far the worst movie I have ever seen. There is no plot, the jokes are not funny, the scripts are dull and the acting is brainless. I mean, come on, "retarded" is not a strong enough word to describe the tripe and do its justice but that the film was way beyond retarded. It is not at all capable of being enjoyed.Nick is just a vein loser. Chuck is a psychopathic moron real-estate-guy/contractor/baby-whisperer/city inspector/mid-wife who sold Nick a piece-of-trash house and he knew that there were problems. Suzanne is the unsupportive and annoying housewife who bonds with her contractor than her husband. The kids were unruly obnoxious rude disrespectful sassy spoilt brats. Another reason why I detest this show is because the kids' misbehaviours go unpunished and undealt with. If I were their father I'd really teach them a lesson or two. Another reason why this show spells "trash" is that Chuck Mitchell, Jr., who sold The Persons the rubbish house, is a juvenile delinquent who destroys the house and rips it to pieces and that is supposed to be funny?!! GET REAL! It is a disgrace and most painful! It is simply not funny neither is it worth watching. I can't stand it anymore. I simply advise EVERYONE to stay away from this tripe. It is the worst film in decades. It'll hurt your eyes so bad, you'll probably go blind! Ice Cube is not funny. If you seek real humor then go watch "AATC"(Alvin & The Chipmunks) instead. It is much funnier than this garbage.big fat -75/10 Grade: ZSo for your sake and mine ignore all the positive reviews for this trash and believe all the negative hype.(The people with the negative reviews DO know what they are talking about while the people with the positive reviews DON'T.BOTTOM LINE: Don't bother wasting your time with this retarded slab of garbage called "AWDY?". It was utterly stupid and unfunny! It was just as bad as "AWTY?". It really sucked!

We had free passes that were coming up for their date of use so we took a stroll to the theater to watch a family "G" rated movie. Unfortunately, it was the only one available (sadly, Shrek III was opening the next day...) so we went for it.You know what, i was expecting a awful movie but i ended up finding it to be fair. But in a family perspective. The acting for the young and adult actors is way under the average and the characters are so naive, sometimes it hurts !5/10 for its family values, the scene with the owl (which i found the funniest) but the lack of continuous laughter.Again, to be enjoyed with the company of for 6 to 10 year old kids.

I watched it because i had no other choice. It totally ruins my respect for Ice Cube's image. I admit the first one can be rated around 4/10 but this sequel was really way out of line.Chuck looked like the center of attention and somehow implied that the other characters are not needed. It's a good thing I watched it for free because if not I may have been furious about it.I have a lot of respect for Ice Cube but the movie ruins everything. having watched Friday and Next Friday was a blast but this movie will push your boredom to the limits.A total waste of time. Maybe he should stick to Next Friday or All about the benjamins flicks.

I bought this movie at one of those previewed movies for sale at the local video shop and it was a great buy for $5. But, I wouldn't pay more than $10 for it.My son and I have watched this movie 3 or 4 times (at my son's request) and it's really not as bad as the previous rater stated. At first, I was completely put off by the kids' behavior in this movie; they were disrespectful and rude throughout 90% of the film, which made me almost hate the movie. But their horrible behavior, due to their father being out of their life, is exactly the point of the movie. Accept that and you'll enjoy some laughs resulting from the kids' antics and Ice's responses to them.If you're looking for a movie suitable for the 7-12 year old crowd, this one is probably a good choice. They'll enjoy it. And you may find, as I did, that you can't resist the urge to remind your kids that they are NEVER to behave as poorly as the kid actors in this movie. As an adult, I gave this movie a 4/10 rating for the reasons stated above. However, my 9 year old would likely rate the movie an 8. Overall, it's not so bad.

The writing is unorganized and as other viewers have stated, it doesn't make sense (especially if you've seen the first one). I don't own the DVD but if I did, I'd fast forward to McGinley's first scene and watch it from there; his character is 5 stars. For overall entertainment purposes it's 4 stars, and I wouldn't count on much depth...just humor.

There is very little story in this film beyond an over-confident man being over-confident in his property-improvement skills. Ice Cube buys a beautiful dump for his family, and then falls into a nightmare of rehab work, while living amongst the rubble.
The chaos is ushered in and directed by the annoying actor who plays the attending doctor on Scrubs. In this film he's the realtor, general contrator, midwife, code enforcement officer, and general nutcase. He's not funny, and he's not believable.
The only decent moments include comic relief when Ice Cube falls through the roof or a chandelier falls onto the dining room table, etc, and some of the family moments, as Cube attempts to relate to his step-kids.
This is harmless and watchable, but disappointing and over-the-top (in a bad way) overall. Purely a rental.

We all know their problems of DIY, the new foundations, the leaking pipes, the collapsing roof. I'm sure we've all experienced to one degree or another in our life. This is what Ice Cube's sequel to Are We There Yet? sets out to display, with fun and slapstick PG comedy packed in to it. However, I don't think I've seen a film so frequently unfunny. Are We Done Yet? (AWDY?)tells the story of Ice Cube as he buys a new house for his family, who are expecting another member soon. So, he buys a house, and guess what? Unknowing to Mr. Cube their dream house is a mess, falling apart and has termites scuttling around in every room. The following 90 minutes consist of Ice Cube running around and falling in holes in floorboards. I'm afraid to say that I didn't laugh once, and I was in a mood for comedy. AWDY was so relentlessly laugh-less that I was despairing as the film barely crawls along, tediously moving from one predictable slapstick moment to the next. Ice Cube is so bland and wet he has no screen presence or power, he is an annoying fly moaning and shouting in your ear. As for the talented comic John Christopher McGinley from Scrubs, he consistently fails to hold the screen for barely an hour, and is more annoying than quirky, a sad and badly misted reflection of his Scrubs character.I judge comedy on whether I laugh. The Wikipedia definition of comedy reads: 'Comedy has a popular meaning (any discourse generally intended to amuse, especially in television, film, and stand-up comedy).' I'm afraid I was never at any point entertained, and I forgot the existence of my funny bone. A successfully direction-less and unhilarious slapstick joke stretched out to 90 minutes.

This was a very funny, clean and most enjoyable movie. There is drama, a plot, and it's just full of humor at every moment. 90 minutes went very fast. This movie has a complete cast for diversity. Take your kids to this movie without fear. Unexpected and very moving moment that teaches life lessons throughout. No violence. No sex. No swearing of any kind. Just a great movie! This movie exceeded our expectations. We were expecting some sort of swearing, sexual innuendo, off color humor, but it was free of every type of objection. It did have some blind plumbers and their lack of sight was somewhat play upon, but never was it in a negative sense that they couldn't do their job.

John C. McGlinley stole the show. The tag for the movie should be "an emotionally disturbed contractor, still mourning the loss of a loved one, is helped by a young family whose house he renovates." Ice Cube is the straight man here. I felt like it was false advertising.Overall, the movie was an enjoyable Hollywood flick. But my other issue was Nia Long's pregnancy. The time line was all wrong. The whole movie looked like it took place over one or two months. So how was she delivering at the end? I liked it for what it was, but it wasn't what it could have been. My kids loved it, however. They've watched it several times. Funny moments, but they all belong to McGlinley.

Of all the Ice Cube movies I have seen, this has got to be the worst. Not only were many of results cliché, especially the ending, but many of the characters were just unfunny. And that is being nice.John McGinley, who initially seems welcoming, becomes a nuisance. He sells Ice a lemon of a home and has a monopoly on every main job for the community. But instead of getting rid of him, he becomes liked. Even Ice Cube likes him at the end. Many of the jokes were bad or badly set up. I admit blind plumbers could have been funny. But instead, they just walked about with stereotypical blind sticks. But nothing funny happened. Nothing. How could anybody blow a bit like that? Apparently this crew could.Ice Cube could have done worse. But I am not happy with his work. Nia Long is very nice looking, but the plot, direction, and screenplay is all wrong. Better luck making "Next Next Friday" or "Barbershop 3". They probably would be better. "D"

The film takes place about a year after the events from Are We There Yet(2005), and Nick(Ice Cube) and Suzanne(Nia Long) get married and live in his apartment with the kids, and sells his store in hopes to becomes a magazine writer. But Suzanne announces that she is pregnant, and Nick soon realizes that his apartment is no place for a family, so they move, much of the dismay of the kids, out to the beautiful side of the country. They end up buying a house, but the house is very old, and it begins to fall apart(anybody remember The Money Pit?). So they call on Chuck Mitchell Jr(John C. McGinley), a contractor who in hopes to help fix up the place, and that Murphy's Law does not take part. I enjoyed Are We There Yet, but the second time around just didn't quite do it. Although moments with Ice Cube and John C. McGinley playing off each other were pretty funny, but the rest of the film to me, appeared to be that was trying to hard to be funnier then the first, but it just didn't do it. It ends up looking like one Bad SNL joke after another.

It was amazing, that such crap could be made and anyone could give it higher than a 1!The entire movie, it seems like ice cubes only line is I can fix that! The entire movie i felt like saying are we done yet? I was NEVER entertained and didn't laugh ONCE! When i went there with some friends, private movie, second day. WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU? Absolute crap. A torn down house and a man is trying to sell it. nothing interesting. So boring in fact, halfway through the movie i went to a corner and played with Ribiks cube. We left 30 minates before it was over, and went bowling instead. Do not buy this on DVD! (unless your suisideal.)Deserves the bottom spot in the bottom 100.

I've never seen Are We There Yet?, and I had no intention of watching this film. I thought as many that the funny parts were in the trailers and that the actors were sub-par. For the most part that is true. There were some surprises in the humor, mostly from John C. McGinley, but it was far from side splitting. Even though it was not a great movie on the whole, it was a great family film. Today, with the exception of Disney, most movies are far from family friendly. Even Dreamwork's cartoons have a great deal of crude humor in them that make most parents cringe when watching them with small children. Are We Done Yet? actually has a lot of great family values that are missing from a lot of movies that have come out recently. The film shows a man who is forced to take care of a family that is not his own and also to prepare for his future children with his new wife. This step-father acts more like a dad should to his teenage step-daughter than most real father's do. Very rarely will you see some one in a film telling a young girl to put on more clothes and yelling at her for sneaking out of the house. If you are looking for something that is more than okay to watch with the kids then this is a movie to check out. Don't expect anything close to award winning, but parents can watch this safely with their kids without wondering if their kids know what the last innuendo meant every couple of minutes.
