Plot Summary:
A post-apocalyptic tale, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind.
This is a very well-delivered post-apocalyptic story that tells us about the destiny of the United States after World War III. After multiple nuclear strikes, the country has turned into a burned desert with ruins of towns and lonely industrial buildings here and there. Very few have survived the war. There is a man among them, Eli (Denzel Washington), who tries to survive while fighting countless cannibal tribes and raiders. Where is he going to? To the West. What helps him to wake up every morning and go on with his dangerous journey? His faith. Eli carries a pre-war book that is believed to be the last one. He just KNOWS he must deliver it to the West. This is a huge leather-covered book with a golden cross on the front. Some people say that the words from the book can give absolute power to its owner. That's why Carnegie (Gary Oldman), a cruel leader of raiders and the owner of the whole town intends to make Eli's journey as short and dangerous as possible.
