Cicala relents in the end lured by the smell of fame and the prommise of a visit to Rome entices him into action. In the Hotel Cicala meets the world famous Cortes Talita (Belen Rodreques) who is in Rome launching a new product, the eyes of the world is on her and for reasons not known her eyes are on Cicala, well perhaps too many alcoholic drinks was to blame. Talita declares to the world press that Cicala is her new boyfriend and they take off in a private jet heading to the US of A, where his singing unlike at home is greeted with great enthusiasm. The film is very well shot, worth watching just for that reason alone and it is a nice enough watch on a rainy afternoon, Belen; I wish to God her forehead would move so that her painted on eyebrows looked less fake, we need a law banning Botox and acting ever being shown on the same screen.

René Ferretti did a lot of bad television. To be precise the victim, to comply with requests to decrease of production, reduced the professional skills of its crews and the immense historical denial of the players at his disposal, comparable only to the extent of their whims. But, one day, the time to say "enough" also comes to him, to meet the requirement of turning the slow motion running in the meadows of a young Ratzinger. All home, all in crisis, all in the bill. At least until the film does not knock at the door. A Ferretti does not ring true: a film on film, serious complaints.

Apparently shut off from the world around him, he pays unprepared and unpredictable attention to things, leading him to becoming distracted and following a train of a thought often incongruous to the contingencies of life. He leads a wretched life as a handyman in a dodgy house-cum-hostel in Rome. However, one day the drudgery of his life is thrown into a whirl by his encounter with the Marchesa, a prostitute who used to live in the house and who has tried to kill herself after a doomed love affair. The Professor frequently goes to visit her in hospital and, in a build-up of attentions, exchanges of simple gestures and mutual kindnesses, it appears that an unlikely affection is developing between them. Yet it is another episode that will affect the Professor’s conscience more deeply: a visit to the ruins of Villa Adriana in Tivoli. Through an exchange and interweaving of meanings, the extraordinary archaeological remains will reawaken his awareness of the mediocrity of his life.

I baci mai dati
[ 2010, Italy ] starting from $1.99Genres: Drama
Actors: Piera Degli Esposti, Donatella Finocchiaro, Beppe Fiorello, Carla Marchese, Pino Micol
Directors: Roberta Torre
Manuela is a 13-year-old girl from the sprawling, dilapidated suburb of Librino in southern Sicily. She lives with her dysfunctional family and works sweeping floors in a hair salon. After the head of a Virgin Mary statue disappears, Manuela announces one morning that the Madonna appeared to her in a dream—and told her the whereabouts of the statue’s head! As news of the vision spreads, Manuela’s quixotic mother realizes there’s good money in miracles. But was it a miracle, or was Manuela just bored? A playful satire, Lost Kisses feels like the collision of a moral tale and a fairy tale. Director Roberta Torre, whose prior work includes a musical about the Mafia, strikes a clever tone, mixing drab realism with sardonic humor, splashes of vibrant color, and fabulist flourishes (it’s an exceedingly bizarre hair salon). While the film plays with the idea of miracles in our image-obsessed material world, it is grounded emotionally in the relationship between mother and daughter.
