It's difficult to age with dignity - even for criminals. Ulrik has served a 12-year sentence for murder. Now he's out. He's in his 50´s. With no future, a family that doesn't want anything to do with him, no place to live and no job. Fortunately his old crew wants to help him. His gangster boss gets him an apartment and a job as a mechanic. The crew give him a potted plant. He is given a new start. Everyone wants to help him. Women come his way. But there's an old score that has to be settled. The man who squealed and sent him to jail has been found. Now he must die. Ulrik is a somewhat gentle man. He has killed some people and crippled a few. But this sort of stuff is part of the job when working in the criminal world. Just like doing time in prison. Now Ulrik is out again. Reluctantly… And Jensen is waiting on the outside. He’s a thug with professional pride. He takes care of his people and is concerned with keeping things in order. It is important for the boss that Ulrik settles his account by shooting the guy who ratted him out. Ulrik is a somewhat gentle man. He has no special wishes and makes no demands. He does not give too much thought to what he does either. He just does it. If he’s given some food and a place to sleep, then he will give people what they want from him in return. Whether this be a little affection or a killing. Then he looks up his son who has now become a grown man. A good man with an education, a girlfriend, and a future. But the son has a father who’s a murderer. His girlfriend doesn’t like it. Her family is not into stuff like that, they’re more into nurseries and plants. They have principles. Ulrik is a somewhat gentle man – but how gentle can he be?

In the morning of the 5th of April 2004, the greatest bank robbery in Norwegian history was carried out in Stavanger. Nokas is the story of this robbery, which took place at the central cash service in Stavanger. The film traces the development of the robbery from early morning on until the fatal shot that took police officer Klungland’s life. The story is credibly narrated through details in an everyday manner. Routines and daily activities at the police station and the cash service centre, the unaffected civilians at the Cathedral Square who politely ask the heavily armed robbers if they may pass with their pram, and the robbers who restlessly get dressed, take a leak, kid around, and wait for the great event. And when the robbery is carried out, it’s totally unreal for everyone. Even if it’s actually taking place.

A group of students set out to make a documentary about a supposed bear poacher, Hans. The students are following Hans through Western Norway. When they try to interview him he tells them to go away, but they persist. As they follow him into a forest, they see flashing lights and hear roars from something larger than a bear. Hans comes running back to his vehicle, screaming "Troll!". They all seek refuge in his car, as their own is now turned over with the tires eaten. Afterwards, when the students ask if they can join Hans in his hunt and film it, he answers yes. The next day the student meets up with Hans, who wants to make sure none of them are Christian, as the trolls can detect the smell of a Christian's blood. They assure him that they are not, and they return to the same forest as the night before. Hans points to a small brook and tells them to take off their clothes, wash themselves and slather themselves with troll 'scent' made from "everything you can squeeze out of a troll". After this they follow him deeper into the forest, where they are told to wait for further instructions. As they wait, they begin to think that Hans is playing a trick on them. Suddenly they see a bright flash, hear another roar and feel the ground shake. Out of the woods comes a giant troll with three heads. They flee back into the woods, where they hide as the troll smells after Christian blood. They return to Hans's car, where they see the troll turn to stone. They decide to follow Hans and document his work as he sets out to kill all the trolls that have broken out of their territories, and to find out why they have started to break out now and not earlier.
