The democratic process hits Berryland as Strawberry Shortcake and Orange Blossom compete to become the Berryfest Princess. As first the town seems to be divided by the friendly competition, with the friends in Berryland thinking they would have to pick their favorite friend. But Strawberry and her friends learn that competing for a title doesn’t mean that people have to pick favorites. The election is set so everyone can vote for the the contestants based on the different opinions expressed in their speeches. Everyone can remain friends. Then the plot takes a twist. As Strawberry gets ready for the celebratory parade, she learns that being a leader isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. She and her friends are overwhelmed and starting to treat each other poorly due to their stress. Not only do the members of Berryland show how the election process works from campaigning to advertising and speech-making, but they also show how everyone can celebrate each other’s best qualities and support each other, even when times are tough. They all learn that working together can really be fun. KIDS FIRST! Child Juror Comments: I think this was a very good movie because it showed you that you can have fun while you are working. My friends would like this because they like Strawberry Shortcake. It’s more of a movie for girls than for boys because it’s got girly stuff in it. All the people are girls except for one guy. They got in a group and cried. That was funny. Boys do that very often. I don’t think they ever do. The cinematography was good except they made the people’s heads way too big. It had good music, and the voices sounded good like it showed different people have different accents.
